Engaging the Community: Past and Present.

Numerous community partners and stakeholders have called the North Fork Mono Rancheria’s unique “responsible development” approach "consistent, transparent and honorable."

Our community outreach process began with two well-attended and well-publicized public meetings prior to the signing of the MOU agreement with the County of Madera and in the BIA scoping meeting in November 2004 for the Environmental Impact Statement being prepared for the project under NEPA. Since then two additional MOUs have been signed with the City of Madera and the Madera Irrigation District.

Our outreach to the community continues today. The North Fork Mono Rancheria is honored and pleased to be able to speak with community groups about its exciting destination and entertainment resort. The more we get out into the community and discuss the specifics of the project, the more people become familiar with its benefits and become supporters of the proposed development.

Over the past months we have visited scores of service organizations, ethnic groups, business organizations, industry groups, employee/trade associations spread throughout Madera and Fresno Counties. These meetings represent real collaboration: we incorporate many of the community's fine ideas into the project to ensure that it meets everyone's needs.
